This is Cineville – our mission and model

Cineville is a collaborative film platform from The Netherlands that wants to make independent cinema(s) more accessible. It's an-all-you-can-watch membership, an alliance of European indie cinemas and a collective marketing tool contributing to a versatile and vibrant independent cinema sector.

Cineville was created in 2009, when four friends working at a student-run independent cinema in Amsterdam wanted to reclaim the market share their favourite arthouse cinemas had lost to the multiplexes. They believed, as we still do, that film can unite people, ideas and dreams.

Today, Cineville is the number one film club for adventurous film fans in the Netherlands, amounting to 2.5 million admissions yearly (2025). That’s 25% of all arthouse cinemas entries in the country, and 44% of all entries in affiliated Cineville cinemas.

The Cineville brand has become synonymous with singular theatrical experiences, a shared love of film and a friendly tone of voice. With our app, magazine and events, we guide our members to and through a diverse collection of films and cinemas, connecting them to a club of like-minded, curious ‘Cinevillers’.

We also support other European countries' independent film communities. Sweden, Germany, Austria and Belgium have already joined our network. Cineville is present in 231 cinemas in 80 cities across Europe.
